Detective

Map location
#1 Engagement point location

General Features

  • Detectives progress through three different types of investigations: Witness Statements, Bullet Trajectory Reconstruction, and Coded Dead Drops.
  • Each investigation takes place at a randomly selected location and features its own objectives, objects, NPCs, map markers, interactions, mission instructions, and completion mechanics.
  • The Detective vehicle also improves as the player advances in the job.
  • The Detective job allows you to locate a specific player.
  • The Detective job is a legal profession.
  • To become a detective, you need to be at least level 3.

Investigation Scenarios

  • Skill 1 & 2 - Witness Statements: The primary type of investigation, based on gathering evidence and questioning witnesses.
    • New detectives begin by investigating crime scenes using physical evidence and witness statements.
    • Upon receiving a case, the assigned location is marked on the map, and the player must travel to the investigation scene.
    • Once on-site, several pieces of evidence appear in the area.
    • The detective must exit the vehicle, approach each marked piece of evidence, and press Y to inspect it.
    • Each piece of collected evidence contributes to the overall investigation progress.
    • After all evidence has been examined, three witnesses become available at the scene. * The player must approach each witness and press Y to begin an interview.
    • Each witness provides a statement relevant to the case.
    • Once all three witnesses have been interviewed, the Detective must return to the investigation marker and analyze the case.
    • After analyzing the collected information, the final investigation report can be submitted, and the contract is completed.
      • Witness Statements fully supports co-op gameplay. Both players can gather evidence and interview witnesses, allowing the case to be completed much faster.
      • A co-op partner must actively participate in the investigation to receive the contract reward.
  • Skill 3 - Witness Statements: This skill continues the Witness Statements branch.
  • Skills 4–6 - Bullet Trajectory Reconstruction: These levels focus on reconstructing bullet trajectories and performing a more advanced analysis of the crime scene.
    • At Skill 4, Detectives unlock a completely different type of investigation focused on ballistic evidence.
    • The player is sent to a crime scene containing multiple bullet impact points.
    • Each impact must be examined and reconstructed individually.
    • Upon interacting with an impact point, the player enters a trajectory reconstruction sequence.
    • A visible trajectory is displayed, which must be correctly aligned based on the ballistic evidence.
    • Once the trajectory is correctly positioned, it can be locked in and recorded as part of the investigation.
    • This process must be repeated for every bullet impact found at the crime scene.
    • The case is completed once all required trajectories have been successfully reconstructed.
      • Bullet Trajectory Reconstruction also supports co-op gameplay.
      • Both players can work simultaneously on different pieces of forensic evidence within the same investigation and contribute to the case's shared progress.
  • Skill 7 - 9 - Coded Dead Drops: These levels focus on cracking a secret 4-digit code to solve the crime.
    • Detectives unlock intelligence-based investigations involving secret drop-off points and encrypted combinations.
    • The player is sent to a randomly selected location containing three investigative clues.
    • Each clue is marked and must be approached and inspected using the Y button.
    • Once all three clues have been discovered, the Dead Drop decoder becomes available.
    • The objective is to discover a hidden four-digit combination before running out of attempts.
    • Each entered combination provides specific feedback for each digit:
      • Green - The digit is correct and in the right position.
      • Yellow - The digit is part of the combination but in the wrong position.
      • Red - The digit is not part of the combination.
  • The decoder correctly handles repeated digits, ensuring that duplicate numbers do not skew the results.
  • Previous attempts remain visible, allowing players to use information from earlier combinations to determine the correct combination.
  • The number of attempts increases based on the Detective skill level:
    • Skill 7: 6 attempts.
    • Skill 8: 7 attempts.
    • Skill 9: 8 attempts.
  • Coded Dead Drop investigations fully support co-op gameplay.
  • Both players can collect clues and use the shared decoder.
  • When one player enters a combination, the updated decoder information becomes available to the other player as well.
  • Successfully discovering the hidden combination completes the investigation.
  • Skill 10 - Investigation Selection:
    • Skill 10 gives the player complete control over the type of investigation they wish to undertake.
    • Skill 10 also unlocks the ability to perform Detective work using one's own personal vehicle.
    • Players with Skill 10 no longer need to earn additional Detective skill points, as they have already reached the maximum level.

Teamwork (Co-op)

  • The Detective job now includes a full co-op system that allows two players to work on the same investigation.
  • When starting the job, players can choose between working alone or inviting another eligible Detective as a partner. * Upon accepting the invitation, both players enter the same investigation and use the same Detective vehicle.
  • The leader controls the contract and receives the vehicle corresponding to their Detective skill level. The partner joins the leader's investigation and shares the same objectives, items, NPCs, map markers, and investigation progress.
  • Co-op play is supported across all three investigation types:
    • Witness Statements: both players can inspect evidence and interview witnesses;
    • Bullet Trajectory Reconstruction: both players can reconstruct ballistic trajectories;
    • Coded Dead Drop: both players can discover clues and participate in decoding the secret combination.

Team Contribution and Rewards:

  • The reward system prevents inactive partners from receiving rewards without participating.
  • A partner becomes eligible for the contract reward after completing at least one relevant action within the investigation.
  • If the partner contributes, the contract's base income is split 50/50 between the leader and the partner.
  • Existing cash bonuses are then calculated separately for each player's share.
  • Since both players may have different active bonuses, final payouts can differ even if the base income was split equally.
  • Contributing partners also earn progress toward their Detective skill, Marathon points, and Clan XP.
  • Leaders with higher skill levels provide greater progress rewards to lower-level partners, allowing experienced Detectives to help newer players advance faster in the job. * A player who has already reached Detective skill level 10 no longer receives redundant Detective skill points.
  • If the partner does not contribute, they receive no money, Detective skill points, Marathon points, or Clan XP, and the leader receives the full contract reward.
  • A co-op partner can leave the investigation without automatically stopping the leader's job. The leader can continue and complete the remaining investigation alone.

Earnings based on skill

  • Each Detective investigation now has a base pay determined by the leader's Detective skill level.
  • The following amounts represent the base pay for a complete contract before any additional job bonuses are applied:
  • Skill 1 - Witness Statements: $500.
  • Skill 2 - Witness Statements: $550.
  • Skill 3 - Witness Statements: $680.
  • Skill 4 - Bullet Trajectory Reconstruction: $970.
  • Skill 5 - Bullet Trajectory Reconstruction: $1,250.
  • Skill 6 - Bullet Trajectory Reconstruction: $1,550.
  • Skill 7 - Coded Dead Drop: $2,100.
  • Skill 8 - Coded Dead Drop: $2,700.
  • Skill9 - Coded Dead Drop: $3,300.
  • Skill 10 - Selected Investigation: $3,900.
  • When working in co-op and the partner contributes, the base pay is split 50/50 between both players.
  • When the partner does not contribute, the leader receives the full base pay.
  • Existing job bonuses continue to be calculated separately after the base reward is determined.
  • Witness investigations may also have a reduced monetary reward depending on the outcome of the submitted investigation, while other progression rewards remain unaffected.

Learning System

  • The co-op Detective system now also functions as a mentorship system, allowing experienced Detectives to help newer ones progress significantly faster in the job.
  • When two players complete an investigation together, the leader's Detective skill determines the difficulty and progression level of the active contract.
  • A contributing partner gains Detective skill progression based on the leader's investigation level, rather than being limited to the progression normally available for their own skill level.
  • This means that working with a more experienced Detective can offer significantly better progression than performing low-level investigations alone.
  • For example, a low-skill Detective helping a high-skill leader can receive the higher progression reward associated with that investigation's level.
  • The system is intentionally designed to encourage experienced players to bring along newer Detectives, rather than working only with players of the same skill level.
  • The mentorship bonus applies only if the partner actively contributes to the investigation. An inactive partner receives no money, Detective skill progression, Marathon points, or Clan XP. * Players who have already reached Detective skill level 10 no longer receive additional Detective skill points from the mentorship system.
  • Skill 10 Detectives represent the highest mentorship tier and can continue helping lower-skilled partners progress, even if the Skill 10 leader no longer personally needs Detective skill points.

Player Tracking System

  • The Detectives' tracking ability has been significantly expanded at higher skill levels.
  • Detectives are no longer permanently limited to tracking only one player at a time.
  • The number of players that can be tracked simultaneously increases based on Detective skill:
    • Skill 1-5: 1 player.
    • Skill 6: 2 players, with the additional target available for 120 seconds.
    • Skill 7: 2 players permanently.
    • Skill 8: 3 players, with the newest additional target available for 120 seconds.
    • Skill 9: 3 players permanently.
    • Skill 10: 4 players permanently.
  • Each tracked player receives their own map marker: Red, Green, Blue, Yellow.
  • All currently tracked players are displayed together on the mini-map, and each target is updated independently.
  • If a tracked player disconnects, disables tracking, or becomes unavailable for any other reason, only that target's marker is removed, while the other targets continue to be tracked. * Temporary targets automatically disappear once their tracking duration expires, without affecting other active searches.
  • Detective skill points and achievements are no longer earned simply by using [/find].
  • Progress is now gained by actually completing Detective investigations.
  • If tracking a single player, using [/cancel find] immediately cancels that search without opening an additional menu.
  • If tracking multiple players, an interface appears displaying all active targets along with their corresponding marker colors.
  • Players can choose exactly which tracked player they wish to stop locating.
  • Canceling a target no longer removes all other active searches.
  • The menu also includes an option to cancel all active searches simultaneously.
  • Existing systems that still use the original single-player tracking mechanic remain unaffected.
